Cinco de Mayo or the Fifth of May is a
national holiday in Mexico commemorating the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862,
in which Mexican troops under General Ignacio Zaragoza defeated the invading
French forces of Napoleon III. Although the battle itself represented only a
temporary setback for the French, the Mexicans' victory against overwhelming
odds gave them the confidence they needed to persevere until finally triumphing
on April 2, 1867.
The anniversary of this event is
celebrated not only in Mexico but in many American communities with large
Mexican-American populations—especially in the southwestern states of Texas,
Arizona, and southern California. The events include parades, patriotic
speeches, bullfights, barbecues, and beauty contests. Olvera Street in Los
Angeles is particularly known for its Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth
of May") is a celebration held on May 5. It is celebrated nationwide in
the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla,
where the holiday is called El Dia de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of
the Battle of Puebla). The date is observed in the United States as a
celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, and to commemorate the cause of
freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War. In the
state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's
unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862,
under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. Contrary to widespread
popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day—the most
important national patriotic holiday in Mexico—which is actually celebrated on
September 16.
Events leading to Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo has its roots in the
French occupation of Mexico, which took place in the aftermath of the
Mexican-American War of 1846-48, the Mexican Civil War of 1858, and the 1860
Reform Wars. These wars left the Mexican Treasury in ruins and nearly bankrupt.
On July 17, 1861, Mexican President Benito Juárez issued a moratorium in which
all foreign debt payments would be suspended for two years. In response,
France, Britain, and Spain sent naval forces to Veracruz to demand
reimbursement. Britain and Spain negotiated with Mexico and withdrew, but
France, at the time ruled by Napoleon III, decided to use the opportunity to
establish a Latin empire in Mexico that would favor French interests, the
Second Mexican Empire.
The French invasion
Late in 1861, a well-armed French
fleet stormed Veracruz, landing a large French force and driving President
Juárez and his government into retreat. Moving on from Veracruz towards Mexico
City, the French army encountered heavy resistance from the Mexicans near
Puebla, at the Mexican forts of Loreto and Guadalupe. The 8,000-strong French
army attacked the much more poorly equipped Mexican army of 4,000. Yet, on May
5, 1862, the Mexicans managed to decisively crush the French army, one which,
according to an article in Philadelphia's The Bulletin daily newspaper, was the
best army of the time.
The Mexican victory
The victory represented a significant
morale boost to the Mexican army and the Mexican people at large. In the
description of The History Channel, "Although not a major strategic win in
the overall war against the French, Zaragoza's success at Puebla represented a
great symbolic victory for the Mexican government and bolstered the resistance
movement."[18] The description of Time magazine was: "The Puebla
victory came to symbolize unity and pride for what seemed like a Mexican David
defeating a French Goliath."[19] It helped establish a much-needed sense
of national unity and patriotism.
Events after the Battle
The Mexican victory, however, was
short-lived. Thirty thousand troops and a full year later, the French were able
to depose the Mexican army, capture Mexico City, and establish Emperor Maximilian
I as ruler of Mexico. However, the French victory was also short-lived, lasting
only 3 years, from 1864 to 1867. With the U.S. Civil War over in 1865, the U.S.
was able to provide more assistance to Mexico to expel the French, after which
Maximilian I was executed by the Mexicans, along with his Mexican generals
Miramón and Mejía, in the Cerro de las Campanas, Queretaro.
Significance
The Battle of Puebla was important for
at least two reasons. First, although considerably outnumbered, the Mexicans
defeated a much better-equipped French army. "This battle was significant
in that the 4,000 Mexican soldiers were greatly outnumbered by the
well-equipped French army of 8,000 that had not been defeated for almost 50
years." Second, it was significant
because since the Battle of Puebla, no country in the Americas has been invaded
by any other European military force.
Consequences to the United States
Some historians have argued that
France's real goal was to help break up the American Union, at the time in the
midst of a civil war, by helping the southern Confederacy: "The Mexicans
had won a great victory that kept Napoleon III from supplying the confederate
rebels for another year, allowing the United States to build a powerful army.
This grand army smashed the Confederates at Gettysburg just 14 months after the
battle of Puebla, essentially ending the Civil War." The consequence of
Cinco de Mayo to the United States has been thus recognized: "The defeat
of the French army had consequences for America as well...the French defeat
denied Napoleon III the opportunity to resupply the Confederate rebels for
another year."
Donald W. Miles adds, "At the
time, there were fears in the United States that the French would use Mexico as
a base to back the Confederacy, so President Lincoln and his Secretary of State
went out of their way to appear 'neutral' in the Mexican situation. They did
not want to take on the French and the Confederates at the same time". Dr.
Miles goes on to explain that "Napoleon III had hesitated to take on the
United States directly, but now the news of the Civil War changed
everything". It meant that the Americans would be occupied with their
conflict between North and South for some time. Upon hearing the Spaniards and
the British had sailed off to grab the customs house in Veracruz to start
collecting their duties, Napoleon decided he would not only send the French
navy, but would also start looking for someone to place as emperor in Mexico.
He would then use Mexico as a base to help the Confederates win their war
against the United States. Napoleon saw this as an opportunity not to be
missed. Dr. Miles then concludes, "The Emperor of France ordered his
generals to spend a few months taking on Mexico and then - using Mexico as a
'base' - help the Confederates win their war against the United States. What if
they had succeeded? The United States would never become the significant world
power it is today...the Mexicans not only took their nation back, but
influenced the outcome of the U.S. Civil War."
Historian Justo Sierra has written in
his Political Evolution of the Mexican People, that had Mexico not defeated the
French in Puebla on May 5, 1862, France would have gone to the aid of the South
in the U.S. Civil War and the United States' destiny could have been very
different.

dhimmitude
Dhimmitude is a neologism first found
in French denoting an attitude of concession, surrender and appeasement towards
Islamic demands. It is derived by adding the productive suffix -tude to the
Arabic language adjective dhimmi, which literally means protected and refers to
a non-Muslim subject of a sharia law state.
Dhimmitude has several distinct, but
related meanings depending on the author; its scope may be historical only,
contemporary only, or both. It may encompass the whole system of dhimma, look
only at its subjects (dhimmis), or even apply it outside of any established
system of dhimma.
Origin
The term was coined in 1982 by the
Lebanese President and Maronite militia leader Bachir Gemayel, in reference to
perceived attempts by the country's Muslim leadership to subordinate the large
Lebanese Christian minority. In a speech of September 14, 1982 given at Dayr
al-Salib in Lebanon, he said: "Lebanon is our homeland and will remain a
homeland for Christians… We want to continue to christen, to celebrate our
rites and traditions, our faith and our creed whenever we wish… Henceforth, we
refuse to live in any dhimmitude!"
The concept of "dhimmitude"
was introduced into Western discourse by the writer Bat Ye'or in a
French-language article published in the Italian journal La Rassegna mensile di
Israel in 1983. The term was used in English as early as 1985 in a book review
by Prof. James E. Biechler in the Journal of Ecumenical Studies, in which he praised Ye'or's work,
commenting that "Perhaps the single most significant contribution of the author
is her definition and development of the concept of 'dhimmitude'".
Ye'or further popularised the term in
her books The Decline of Eastern Christianity under Islam. From Jihad to
Dhimmitude.
Seventh-Twentieth Century and the 2003 follow-up Islam and Dhimmitude: Where
Civilizations Collide. After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the term became far
more widely used, particularly in discussions about Islamism and the
Islamization of the West.
ochlocracy
Ochlocracy (Greek: οχλοκρατία or
okhlokratía; Latin: ochlocratia) or mob rule is government by mob or a mass of
people, or the intimidation of legitimate authorities. As a pejorative for
majoritarianism, it is akin to the Latin phrase mobile vulgus meaning "the
fickle crowd", from which the English term "mob" was originally
derived in the 1680s.
Ochlocracy ("rule of the general
populace") is democracy ("rule of the people") spoiled by
demagoguery, "tyranny of the majority" and the rule of passion over
reason, just like oligocracy ("rule of a few") is aristocracy
("rule of the best") spoiled by corruption. Ochlocracy is synonymous
in meaning and usage to the modern, informal term "Mobocracy," which
emerged from a much more recent colloquial etymology.
Terminology
The term appears to have been coined
by Polybius in his Histories (6.4.6). [2] He uses it to name the 'pathological'
version of popular rule in opposition to the good version, which he refers to
as democracy. There are numerous mentions of the word "ochlos" in the
Talmud (where "ochlos" refers to anything from "mob,"
"populace" to "armed guard"), as well as in Rashi, a Jewish
commentary on the Bible. The word is recorded in English since 1584, derived
from the French ochlocratie (1568), which stems from the original Greek
okhlokratia, from okhlos "mob" and kratos "rule, power,
strength"
In ancient Greek political thought
ochlocracy was considered as one of the three "bad" forms of
government (tyranny, oligarchy and ochlocracy) as opposed to the three "good"
forms of government (monarchy, aristocracy and democracy). The distinction
between "good" and "bad" was made according to whether the
government form would act in the interest of the whole community
("good") or the exclusive interests of a group or individual at the expense
of the justice ("bad").
An ochlocrat is one who is an advocate
or partisan of ochlocracy. It can also be used as an adjective (ochlocratic or
ochlocratical).
The threat of "mob rule" to
a democracy is restrained by ensuring that the rule of law protects minorities
or individuals against short-term demagoguery or moral panic. Though
considering how laws in a democracy are established or repealed by the
majority, the rule of law's protection of minorities is questionable.
Mobs in history
Historians often comment on mob rule
as a factor in the rise of Rome and its maintenance, as the city of Rome itself
was large—between 100,000 and 250,000 citizens—while the aristocracy and even
military was very small by comparison to the citizenry. Lapses in this control
often led to loss of power, or even the loss of heads, of officials—most
notably in the reign of Commodus when Cleander unwisely used the Praetorian
Guard against a mob which had come to call for his head. As Edward Gibbon
relates it,
The people... demanded
with angry clamors the head of the public enemy. Cleander, who commanded the
Praetorian Guards, ordered a body of cavalry to sally forth and disperse the
seditious multitude. The multitude fled with precipitation towards the city; several
were slain, and many more were trampled to death; but when the cavalry entered
the streets their pursuit was checked by a shower of stones and darts from the
roofs and windows of the houses. The foot guards, who had long been jealous of
the prerogatives and insolence of the Praetorian cavalry, embraced the party of
the people. The tumult became a regular engagement and threatened a general
massacre. The Praetorians at length gave way, oppressed with numbers; and the
tide of popular fury returned with redoubled violence against the gates of the
palace, where Commodus lay dissolved in luxury and alone unconscious of the
civil war... Commodus started from his dream of pleasure and commanded that the
head of Cleander should be thrown out to the people. The desired spectacle
instantly appeased the tumult...
This followed a previous incident in
which the legions of Britain had demanded and received the death of Perennis,
the prior administrator. The mob thus realized that it had every chance of
success.
The Salem Witch Trials, in which the
unified belief of the townspeople overpowered the logic of the law, has also
been cited as an example of mob rule. In 1837, Abraham Lincoln wrote about
lynching and "the increasing disregard for law which pervades the country--the
growing disposition to substitute the wild and furious passions in lieu of the
sober judgment of courts, and the worse than savage mobs for the executive
ministers of justice."
Mobs used to affect policy
The modern theories of civil
disobedience and satyagraha can be differentiated from "mob rule" and
its mechanics, as these approaches forego the use of violence and force that
the mob of ancient times employed.
Traditional non-violent protest theory
holds that if the demonstrators are restrained and do not do any violence, yet
refuse to back down, then they could conceivably win, as they either will be
joined by the forces they face, be allowed to defy the law or government openly
and peacefully, or be physically attacked, struck down, and made into powerful
moral symbols of the lengths to which the agents of the state will go to
enforce its laws. However, police forces around the world have become adept at
making such gatherings irrelevant by limiting them to areas, in some cases
dubbed "free speech zones," sufficiently separate from the object of
their discontent, the rest of the public, and the media, to make them easily
ignored. Permitting requirements in many jurisdictions effectively make
demonstrations without advance police permission illegal. Various efforts to
increase demonstrators’ communal intelligence and mobility using cell phone
networks and bicycles have been employed to circumvent crowd control and
marginalizing techniques with speed. Flash mobs and Critical Mass style
"bike block" actions are examples experimented with, with mixed
results, notably during the 2004 Republican National Convention.
Modern theory concludes that since
Roman guards, facing crucifixion for disobedience, could be swayed by mobs, it
is also possible to sway modern police, even in a police state. The 1986 EDSA
Revolution in the Philippines, the Velvet Revolution in former Czechoslovakia,
and the resistance to the attempted military coup in the Soviet Union in 1991
that led to the dissolution of that state, are situations where it is possible
that it was the "mob" which won the day due to defections by
authority. The use of political pressure put on by a large amassed group of
people was also frequently demonstrated in the Arab Spring, which contributed
to swift political change in countries as Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya.

Moses Hess
(1812-1875) Socialist writer and
forerunner of Zionism. Hess was born in Bonn and received an Orthodox
upbringing, but was soon drawn to philosophy and particularly philosophical
socialism, collaborating with Marx and Engels. He lived intermittently in Paris
from the early 1840s until his death. Unlike Marx and Engels, he saw the racial
struggle as taking precedence over the class struggle, soon breaking with the
"scientific socialists" and even being reviled by them. In 1862 he
published the Zionist classic Rome and Jerusalem: The Last National
Question,
declaring that "after twenty years of estrangement, I have returned to my
people." In it he argued for the revival of Jewish nationalism and the
reconstitution of the nation in its ancient homeland, where the unique ethical
and religious genius of the race could flourish. He envisaged a society founded
on socialist principles in a ramified network of agricultural settlements and
cooperative communities. His book was largely forgotten until the emergence of
the Zionist movement at the turn of the century, inspiring Herzl to declare:
"What a noble, exalted spirit. Everything we have tried is already in this
book."
Hess was active as a writer to the end
of his life. His remains were reinterred in Israel in 1961, beside the Sea of
Galilee.
He was responsible for converting
Engels to Communism, and he early introduced Marx to social and economic
problems. Hess played a prominent role in transforming Hegelian theory by
conceiving of man as the initiator of history rather than as a mere observer.
He was reluctant to base all human destiny on economic causes and class
struggle, and he came to see the struggle of races, or nationalities, as the
prime factor of past history. In Rom und
Jerusalem (1862, tr. 1958) he declared that the freeing and uniting of
humanity was the mission of the Jewish people and urged the establishment of a
Jewish state in Palestine.

vaccinating to immunize began in 1796, when British apothecary (pharmacist)
Edward Jenner inserted cowpox pus under the skin of an eight year old boy.
Jenner based his experiment on an unsubstantiated rumor that anyone who had
experienced cowpox would be immune to smallpox.
Over the next couple of years, Jenner
vaccinated others with cowpox to immunize them against smallpox. Without any
actual proof of efficacy and safety, Jenner impressed King George III enough
with a bogus immunization guarantee that he was awarded the equivalent of
today's $500,000.
Thus, Jenner was the first medical
professional to administer diseased matter as medication to a healthy person
and receive a substantial financial award. He was also the first to constantly
denounce vaccination detractors successfully. He was protecting both his ego
and large public purse.
Many health professionals throughout
the 19th Century knew that there had been several cases of smallpox among those
with cowpox histories. Jenner's
premise was flawed.
This was actually the beginning of a
tradition that is carried on by today's vaccinators. Come up with a bogus
solution to prevent a disease, make a bundle of cash, and shut down reasonable
arguments from those who know immunization by vaccination doesn't work safely
or effectively.
England's incidents of smallpox after
vaccination rose steadily from five percent in the beginning to 95% by 1895.
There was even a serious epidemic around 1872, one year after smallpox
vaccinations were decreed mandatory in the UK. The mortality rate among
smallpox victims also shot up five-fold around that time.
Despite intelligent protests with
obvious facts and figures disproving efficacy, and proving harm from toxic
materials and viruses contained in vaccines that endanger natural immunity, the
inoculation for immunization premise has been maintained.
Protecting the industry against truth
by attacking reasonable dissenters viciously has resulted in vaccine industry
revenue of $17 billion annually today. This doesn't include revenue from
doctors' visits for vaccinations and resulting ill health from them.
The vaccinators' tactics of
suppressing scientific data from concerned professionals has become more mafia
like. Sincere medical professionals who register health concerns over vaccines
are severely punished and slandered by the medical mafia owned mainstream
media.

It was the City of London that had
established what was known as the mercantile System out of the industrial
revolution. The Victorian era had been one of great commercial expansion. With
that rare genius for political invention, Gladstone, Disraeli and other British
statesmen sought a substitute for the old system of Crown Colonies. They found
it in the British Empire. Their formula was to hand to the colonies the right to
govern themselves, providing they did not break the financial nexus with the
City of London. The City of London provided all the capital required for the
development of the colonies. The City controlled the ships, the wool and wheat
exchanges, the insurance houses and all the other machinery of trade and
commerce. Self-government for the colonies did not mean financial independence.
Just as the Medici Family had been the money-lenders of the Middle Ages, so
that their family emblem of the three golden balls became the signpost of the
pawn shop, so did the frock-coated gentlemen, who worked in the City, become
the money-lenders of the Empire. It was still the day of the country manors,
the ducal estates, the hunt clubs and the stately London hide-outs of the
aristocracy. They clipped their coupons each quarter and cashed them for their
interest on loans raised for “poor colonies.” They collected dividend cheques
from companies operating in places they couldn’t even locate on the map.
The Old Lady of Threadneedle Street,
as they called the Bank of Engand, presided over the financial dynasty of the
Empire. It was supported by the Big Five, the major private banks. If a
government in the Dominions or the colonies wanted to raise money, it had to go
through approved channels. The financial world was divided into zones of
influence. The Houses of Nivison, Rothschild, Barings and Morgan, Grenfell, all
had their respective rights. If a government in the colonies wanted to raise
money, it could only approach one firm. It had to meet a rigidly controlled
scale of underwriting fees. It had to accept the conditions and the interest
rates dictated by its London representatives. Every Government had its London
agents, who were actually agents for the British investors. There was no room
for argument. It was a case of taking it or leaving it. It was useless to try
another source. The City had its own underground communication system. It was
left to the underwriters to divide up the spoil. They simply produced the
clearing house.

The portraits above are of the same man but
in two different incarnations. On the left we see Martin "Gray"
in retirement after a successful career peddling fake antiques to gullible
collectors. He is holding his mass market paperback, For Those I Loved,
which is filled with his exploits as a saintly "Holocaust Survivor"
who was supposedly forced to help clear bodies out of the Treblinka "gas
chamber." The earlier portrait on the right is of the youthful Gray

Judaic Professor Arno Mayer of Princeton in his important book, Why Did the Heavens Not Darken? states that the German invasion of Russia was carried out with the intention to eradicate Bolshevik (Soviet Communist) ideology. The Germans were hardly the only ones in the West to believe that, "Soviet Russia is a dictatorship of Jewry."
On Feb. 8, 1920 a young British writer made a similar observation in the Illustrated Sunday Herald:
"There is no need to exaggerate the part played in the creation of Bolshevism and in the actual bringing about of the Russian Revolution by these international and for the most part atheistical Jews."
The writer was Winston Churchill. Though he would later sell his soul for considerably more than thirty pieces of silver, his analysis of the authentic nature of Soviet communism remains trenchant.
Churchill expressed the crucial insight that the crimes perpetrated by Jewish communists against Germans and Russians instilled in those people a desire for retribution:
"In the Soviet institutions the predominance of Jews is even more astonishing. And the prominent, if not indeed, the principal, part in the system of terrorism applied by the Extraordinary Commissions for Combating Counter-Revolution has been taken by Jews, and in some notable cases by Jewesses.
"The same evil prominence was obtained by Jews in the brief period of terror during which Bela Kun ruled in Hungary. The same phenomenon has been presented in Germany (especially in Bavaria), so far as this madness has been allowed to prey upon the temporary prostration of the German people.
"...The fact that in many cases Jewish interests and Jewish places of worship are excepted by the Bolsheviks from their universal hostility has tended more and more to associate the Jewish race in Russia with villainies which are now being perpetrated...Needless to say, the most intense passions of revenge have been excited in the breasts of the Russian people." Chaim Bermant, writing in the Jewish Chronicle (Aug. 30, 1991), says: "It was Communism which toppled the hated Czars, Communism which removed Jewish disabilities and proscribed anti-Semitism and Communism which, in its early days at least, opened the doors to Jewish advancement."
Lenin, whose maternal grandfather, Israel Blank, was Judaic, said that Judaics made the best revolutionaries: "The clever Russian is almost always a Jew or has Jewish blood in him." (Dmitri Volkogonov, Lenin: A New Biography, p. 112). Lenin was both clever and a revolutionary. He was surely referring to himself.
Researcher Wayne McGuire of Harvard University writes: "Lenin was a Jew by the standards of Israel's Law of Return: he possessed a Jewish grandparent. It would seem that not only was Lenin a Jew, but that he was a Jewish racist and chauvinist, although he kept his ideas on this volatile subject far in the background, probably because they were in radical conflict with the supposed universalism of Marxism. ...Lenin was a Jewish racist who deliberately gave Jews especially, the most 'intellectually demanding tasks.' He admitted that 50% of the communist terrorist vanguard in the south and west of Russia was comprised of Jews."
Lenin declared, "We are exterminating the bourgeoisie as a class." His partner in crime, Apfelbaum (Zinoviev) stated: "The interests of the revolution require the physical annihilation of the bourgeoisie class." Who were these bourgeoisie? Certainly not Jews. Trotsky gave a clue to their identity in a 1937 interview in the New York Jewish newspaper, Daily Forward: "The longer the rotten bourgeoisie society lives, the more and more barbaric will anti-Semitism become everywhere."
Bourgeoisie was a Bolshevik code-word for Gentile. The first law passed after the Communists seized power in Russia made anti-semitism a crime punishable by death. (Izvestia, July 27, 1918).
The top Communist Judaic official Zinoviev stated: "Without mercy, without sparing, we will kill our enemies in scores of hundreds. Let them be thousands; let them drown themselves in their own blood. For the blood of Lenin and Uritzky, Zinoviev and Vólodarsky, let there be floods of the blood of the bourgeoisie--more blood! As much as possible!" (Krasnaya Gazeta, Sept. 1, 1918).
The Judaic Bolsheviks regarded politics as a branch of Gentile pest control. Hatred of Christians, especially the peasant "bourgeoisie" was their prime motivation. The systematic destruction of the Christian peasantry of Russia as so many vermin, beginning with Lenin's attack on them in the summer of 1918 and his forced starvation in 1921, has been almost completely ignored in Western history.
According to the London, England "Jewish Chronicle" (Literary Supplement, Sept. 3, 1999, pp. iv and v) Jewish Communist writer Isaac Babel was present at a Soviet Communist gathering, "A meeting of...Jews...is being addressed by Commissar Vinogradov who is enthusiastically telling the...Jews: 'You are in power. Everything is yours." Babel also wrote of the "unbounded" Jewish "contempt for the Polish gentry."
According to the "Jewish Chronicle," Babel wrote for the Communist publication "Red Trooper" and a Soviet commissar related to him how they intended to deal with Cossacks: "The revolutionary curve has thrown into the first rank the free Cossacks soaked in many prejudices, but the Central Committee's maneuvering will rub them down with a brush of iron.' Babel expresses no opinion on the chances of successfully rubbing out the Cossacks' 'soaked-in prejudices,' a euphemistic term for vicious anti-Semitism..." ("Jewish Chronicle," Ibid.)
"In the last years of the '20s and the early '30s, Babel was regarded as one of the most notable talents in Soviet literature. Speaking at the first writers' congress in 1934...he made the expected avowals of loyalty and devotion to the revolution, the government and the state. He even praised Stalin's literary style." In his story, "The Rabbi's Son," Babel places the portraits of Lenin and Rabbi Moses Maimonides side by side. He notes that the margins of Communist leaflets are crowded with "Hebrew verse."
The Siberian novelist Valentin Rasputin wrote in 1990: "I think today the Jews here in Russia should feel responsible for the sin of having carried out the revolution and for the shape it took. They should feel responsible for the terror--for the terror that existed during the revolution and especially after the revolution...their guilt is great. They perpetrated the relentless campaign against the peasant class whose land was brutally expropriated by the state and who themselves were ruthlessly murdered."
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's biographer recounts what it was like to grow up as a Russian Christian child among the children of the Jewish communist elite: "By the age of ten he had the cross ripped from his neck by jeering Pioneers and for over a year was held up to ridicule... Solzhenitsyn was, as a boy, exposed to students whose parents had an officially superior status. Most of the members of the Young Pioneers and Komsomol movements, at least in Rostov, were Jewish children..." (Michael Scammell, Solzhenitsyn: A Biography, p. 64).

“Die Juden sind unser Ungluck!” was a slogan, (a quote actually), printed on the bottom of the popular Third Reich newspaper, Der Sturmer.
Translated, the slogan states, “The Jews are our Misfortune!”
Der Sturmer was published by Julius Streicher from 1923 to 1945. The paper was endorsed
by Hitler as a useful tool for influencing the man on the street. Yet
still, neither Hitler nor Der Sturmer were the authors of the slogan.
After the war, Streicher was tried and hung
at the Nuremberg trials for “crimes against
humanity”—translate—”criticizing the Jews.” And the Jews got him “hung
from the gallows” simply for publishing the paper.
In 1935, Der Sturmer published the article, “How the Jew Hates the Sturmer.” Excerpts from its opening lines describe why Jewry feared the paper:
“The Sturmer is a guide to the solution of the Jewish Question. A fearsome accuser of Pan-Jewry.

“The Jews are our Misfortune!” was originally put forth by Heinrich von Treitschke (1834-1896), a Professor of History at the University of Berlin and admired for his penetrating analysis of German political life.
His greatest achievement was his multi-volume, “History of Germany in the 19th Century.”
In his University lectures, political essays, and even in his History of Germany, Treitschke expressed disdain for the Jews.
In 1880, he published a pamphlet entitled, “A Word About Our Jews,” which enjoyed much popularity. In this pamphlet the assertion, “The Jews are our misfortune,” first appeared.
Although to this day Jewry labels Treitschke as an “anti-Semite”… yet with astonishing prescience in sketching the Jewish problem of his day Treitschke shadowed forth the Western world’s current plight:
“The influence of Jewry on our national life nowadays shows itself in many ways harmful.

For what we call Americanism is
nothing else, if we may say so, than the Jewish spirit distilled. But how comes
it that American culture is so steeped in Jewishness?
The answer is simple -- through the
early and universal admixture of Jewish elements among the first settlers.
We may picture the process of
colonizing somewhat after this fashion. A band of determined men and women --
let us say twenty families -- went forth into the wilds to begin their life
anew. Nineteen were equipped with plough and scythe, ready to clear the forests
and till the soil in order to earn their livelihood as husbandmen.
The twentieth family opened a store to
provide their companions with such necessaries of life as could not be obtained
from the soil, often no doubt hawking them at the very doors.
Soon this twentieth family made it its
business to arrange for the distribution of the products which the other
nineteen won from the soil. It was they, too, who were most likely in
possession of ready cash, and in case of need could therefore be useful to the
others by lending them money.
Very often the store had a kind of
agricultural loan-bank as its adjunct, perhaps also an office for the buying
and selling of land. So through the activity of the twentieth family, the
farmer in North America was from the first kept in touch with the money and credit
system of the Old World.
Hence the whole process of production
and exchange was from its inception along modern lines. Town methods made their
way at once into even the most distant villages.
Accordingly, it may be said that
American economic life was from its very start impregnated with capitalism. And
who was responsible for this? The twentieth family in each village. Need we add
that this twentieth family was always a Jewish one, which joined a party of
settlers or soon sought them out in their homesteads?
EXAMPLES
Such in outline is the mental picture
I have conceived of the economic development of the United States. Subsequent
writers dealing with this subject will be able to fill in more ample details; I
myself have only come across a few. But these are so similar in character that
they can hardly be taken as isolated instances. The conclusion is forced upon
us that they are typical.
Nor do I alone hold this view.
Governor Pardel of California, for example, remarked in 1905: "He (the
Jew) has been the leading financier of thousands of prosperous communities. He
has been enterprising and aggressive."
Let me quote some of the illustrations
I have met with. In 1785 Abraham Mordecai settled in Alabama. "He
established a trading-post two miles west of Line Creek, carrying on an
extensive trade with the Indians, and exchanging his goods for pink-root,
hickory, nut oil and peltries of all kinds."
Similarly in Albany: "As early as
1661, when Albany was but a small trading post, a Jewish trader named Asser
Levi (or Leevi) became the owner of real estate there."
Chicago has the same story. The first
brick house was built by a Jew, Benedict Schubert, who became the first
merchant tailor in Chicago, while another Jew, Philip Newburg, was the first to
introduce the tobacco business.
In Kentucky, we hear of a Jewish
settler as early as 1816. When in that year the Bank of the United States
opened a branch in Lexington, a Mr. Solomon, who had arrived in 1808, was made
cashier. In Maryland, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania it is on record that
Jewish traders were among the earliest settlers, though nothing is known of
their activity.
On the other hand, a great deal is known of Jews in Texas, where they
were among the pioneers of capitalism. Thus, for example, Jacob de Cordova
"was by far the most extensive land locator in the State until 1856."
The Cordova's Land Agency soon became
famous not only in Texas but in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore, where the
owners of large tracts of Texas land resided. Again, Morris Koppore in 1863
became President of the National Bank of Texas.
Henry Castro was an immigration agent;
"between the years 1843-6 Castro introduced into Texas over 5000
immigrants . . . transporting them in 27 ships, chiefly from the Rhenish
provinces. . . . He fed his colonists for a year, furnished them with cows,
farming implements, seeds, medicine, and in short with everything they
needed."
Sometimes branches of one and the same
family distributed themselves in different States, and were thereby enabled to
carry on business most successfully. Perhaps the best instance is the history
of the Seligman family. There were eight brothers (the sons of David Seligman,
of Bayersdorf, in Bavaria) who started a concern which now has branches in all
the most important centers in the States.
Their story began with the arrival in
America in the year 1837 of Joseph Seligman. Two other brothers followed in
1839; a third came two years later. The four began business as clothiers in
Lancaster, moving shortly after to Selma, Ala.
From here they opened three branches
in three other towns. By 1848 two more brothers had arrived from Germany and the
six moved North.
In 1850, Jesse Seligman opened a shop
in San Francisco -- in the first brick house in that city.
Seven years later a banking business
was added to the clothing shop, and in 1862 the house of Seligman Brothers was
established in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris and Frankfort.
In the Southern States likewise the
Jew played the part of the trader in the midst of agricultural settlers.
Here also (as in Southern and Central
America) we find him quite early as the owner of vast plantations. In South
Carolina indeed, "Jew's Land" is synonymous with "Large
Plantations."
It was in the South that Moses Lindo
became famous as one of the first undertakers in the production of indigo.
These examples must suffice. We believe
they tend to illustrate our general statement, which is supported also by the
fact that there was a constant stream of Jewish emigration to the United States
from their earliest foundation. It is true that there are no actual figures to
show the proportion of the Jewish population to the total body of settlers. But
the numerous indications of a general nature that we do find make it pretty certain
that there must always have been a large number of Jews in America.
It must not be forgotten that in the
earliest years the population was thinly scattered and very sparse. New
Amsterdam had less than 1000 inhabitants.
That being so, a ship full of Jews who
came from Brazil to settle there made a great difference, and in assessing
Jewish influence on the whole district we shall have to rate it highly.
Or take another instance. When the
first settlement in Georgia was established, forty Jews were among the
settlers. The number may seem insignificant, but when we consider the meagre
population of the colony, Jewish influence must be accounted strong. So, too,
in Savannah, where in 1733 there were already twelve Jewish families in what
was then a tiny commercial centre.
That America early became the goal of
German and Polish Jewish emigrants is well known. Thus we are told: "Among
the poorer Jewish families of Posen there was seldom one which in the second
quarter of the 19th century did not have at least one son (and in most cases
the ablest and not least enterprising) who sailed away across the ocean to flee
from the narrowness and the oppression of his native land."
We are not surprised, therefore, at
the comparatively large number of Jewish soldiers (7243) who took part in the
Civil War, and we should be inclined to say that the estimate which puts the
Jewish population of the United States about the middle of the 19th century at
300,000 (of whom 30,000 lived in New York) was if anything too moderate.

I have been
reading Madison Grants 'Conquest of a Continent' on an on/off basis as i am
reading two other books as well. He does not seem to figure in the Jews much -
incidentally the ADL had his book banned because they didn't want him talking
about the Nordic race and the decline of numbers of people with blue eyes. He
was working in an old people’s home and noticed that the older people had a
higher incidence of blue eyes.
I have often thought that Adam Smith was
Jewish as he appears with a Jewish physiognomy on our twenty pound note. This
would seem to fit with your article.
